Reiki for CFD Paramedics
/We received a call from the Chicago Fire Dept., who heard about the Reiki Brigade from the CPD. “Can you help us?” they asked. We’d love to!
Favorite feedback:
“If they could give us this once a shift, that would be great!”
It turns out paramedics, aka Emergency Medical Services (EMS), are supposed to work 24 hours on/72 hours off. Due to personnel shortages the past couple years, they have been working 24 hours on/24 hours off. That’s barely time to recover from a 24 hour shift, much less have a life outside of work. These are the people we depend on to be calm and clear-headed in life-threatening situations!
Margie is our newest volunteer, and she was so excited to work with the CFD. Check out the short video below.
The team, from left to right, Heather, Sarah, Jana, and Margie. We were able to work on 27 paramedics and received a lot of wonderful feedback. See below.
We would like nothing more than to train a few of these folks to offer reiki to their colleagues before and after each shift, and to people they’re transporting in the ambulance, and anyone under general duress.
Reiki for everyone!
