Reiki for the CPD's West Loop Academy

Between classes and traffic stop simulations outside in the street, instructors and new police recruits stopped in to learn about reiki and have a brief, hands-on session.

The CPD has experienced attrition since the beginning of the pandemic with officers retiring. This new class with 500 recruits will be put right to work.

We’re always grateful for the opportunity to introduce folks in high stress jobs to reiki as an way to move the nervous system from sympathetic (fight or flight) to parasympathetic (rest and digest).

Thanks to excellent in-house promotion, we has a steady stream of takers for three hours and were able to work with a lot of people.

According to feedback on our session surveys, overall stress was reduced by more than three units on the Wong Baker scale!

We also loved the feedback from folks whose chief complaint was physical pain.

We look forward to more opportunities to work with the CPD, and perhaps offer reiki training at some point down the line.
