Reiki for the CPD's 20th District

Recent events have left the CPD with fewer officers while crime rates across the city are increasing. Even in this, the most peaceful district in the city, a resident was shot and killed a block from this station at 7am just last week. To continue to offer the same levels of service, days off are sometimes cancelled and stressed officers are asked to do a tougher job with less time to recuperate.

So yesterday we were honored to offer reiki to the 20th District officers. The ten-minute sessions helped them let go of some energetically stored stress before/after their shifts.

Highlights included:

• Working with one officer who’s a Level 2 reiki channel herself.

• One skeptical officer who had to be persuaded to try reiki left with a big smile on his face. “That was really cool!” he said on his way out.

• An officer who was so relaxed (and puzzled) after his session he could barely speak and just kept repeating, “Thank you… thank you… thank you…”
