Reiki for the CPD's SVU

As the Chicago Police Department leans into officer wellness, we receive more and more invitations to offer reiki. The Brigade offered reiki to several detectives and was able to collect feedback from each of them.

Favorite feedback: “Wonderful!”

In and amongst discussions of homicide, missing persons and many, many F-bombs (if not here, then where?), there was reiki.

Stress was by far the most common issue, and reiki was able to reduce stress throughout the group from 5.7 to 1.8 on the Wong Baker scale.

Only one recipient wanted to focus on pain, and she went from 3.5 to none. No pain.

Thanks to the Area 1 detectives for their receptivity to reiki and their feedback. Officers would greatly benefit from incorporating energy healing modalities into any wellness program.
