Reiki for YWCA Evanston Staff
/Monique and I were honored to continue to work with the YWCA organization, which provides invaluable services to women who have just survived a sexual assault. These people deal with incredibly traumatized people every day, and experience vicarious trauma themselves. Learning to maintain their own energy fields is so important to stay healthy.
We started with a brief presentation about the dynamics of reiki, and how it can help alleviate energetically stored trauma. Because of this benefit, we’d love to see reiki available throughout YWCA operations.
Attendees participated in the “Energy Ball” exercise, which is an excellent barometer of where a group of people are. They were very receptive to their own and their neighbor’s energy fields, a good starting point.
Then we offered demos to anyone who wanted one, and fourteen people left with a first-hand experience of reiki. Several asked about reiki classes, recognizing the possibilities it presents to them, their clients, and even the perpetrators of sexual assault. Good stuff.
Thanks to Monique Costello, owner and lead chef from Happy Eats Healthy, for sharing her reiki gifts!
