Reiki at Cook County Juvie

/ Juvenile Temporary Detention Center/

This is a reboot of a program we did several years ago at the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center, and it was great to be back. The staff was incredible, and we fielded several good questions from the youth while offering them Reiki sessions.

I went in expecting the kids to be anxious, scared, maybe even bored, but I was not prepared for the number of gunshot wounds I encountered in response to the question, “Is anything hurting you right now?” It was a stark reminder of why we were there.
