Reiki at Chicago's Public Safety Training Center
/Our quarterly visit to the Police Academy was switched to the PSTC, where first responders receive their continuing education. We were stationed right outside the stairwell that had a sign directing people to the Taser Class. Talk about a study in contrasts!
Favorite feedback: “When are you coming back? Can you come Friday?”
The recruits at the Academy are so receptive. They’re young, eager to learn, follow instructions. When they’re told, “Reiki in the SE Alcove!” they show up, eager to try Reiki. The veteran cops and fire fighters are not as easily swayed. Still, we had 18 takers, and almost everyone who tried Reiki was very glad they did. After doing such a great job keeping the peace during the Democratic National Convention folks were grateful for an opportunity to let go of some stress.
We were visited by a group of CFD Commander instructors. At least I think that was the title they told me. I call them “white shirts.”
It’s great to get decision-makers and influencers in the chairs to give Reiki a try. When we come back, they can help encourage people to try it.
Several people were very enthusiastic about their experiences.
We welcomed Ana (inset) to her first Reiki Brigade outing. She did great and had a lovely time helping out. Thanks also to Vicky, Veronique, and Suzanne! Thanks to Michelle, Ashanta, and Anthony from the CPD who helped organize and promote the event.
