Reiki for UCAN Violence Interrupters

We have been trying to work with Chicago UCAN for years, and were thrilled when the timing synced up for us to participate in their MLK Day event and offer Reiki to attendees.

Favorite feedback:
“As soon as you put your hands on my head I felt tension,
but then it moved out. I didn’t even know it was there!”

Temps outside were well below zero, but the organizers did such a great job, the house was packed anyway. The mic was passed and powerful personal stories of violence and transformation were shared.

The facility was beautiful, the artwork was compelling, and the Reiki was a welcome addition to the events of the day.

Thanks to Mario and Joanna, for lending their hearts and hands to this effort on this important day.

Sometimes the first sensations one experiences with Reiki is an awareness of energetically stored trauma to which they have habituated. Then they feel it ease up, or move out. This was the case for a recipient this day. “I didn’t even known it was there.”

CRED passed out hoodies with this famous MLK quote on the back, and I reflected on the parallels between these words, and another MLK quote, and a founding principle of the Reiki Brigade. Our purposes are aligned.
